I figure Draco didn't have a very good 7th year after the events of DH. But I can totally see Neville being the bigger man and sticking up for the poor little bugger.

Because I'm a sad little dork-monkey, here is a snippet of fic I failed to write, so I just kept this part and decided to draw the scene instead.

-----
He stopped in his tracks immediately before he could run into Hermione's outstretched arm, and stared at the chaos ahead. Jinxes were flying across the hallway, bright reds and searing greens and before he could do a thing about it, there was a sharp bang and flash of white.

Neville came through the smoke, looking angrier than Harry ever remembered seeing him. He raised his wand warningly and students got out of the way, backing up. Harry could make out a white-blond head near the ground. It took nearly a full minute to process the sight of Neville standing protectively over Malfoy, who was trying to gather his scattered belongings with shaking hands. His head was bowed and he looked up at no-one.

"Everyone listen to me carefully," Neville was saying, calmly, but there was no mistaking the quiet fury underneath his tone. "The war is over. And if it's ever going to stay that way, all of you need to bloody grow up. Clear?"

There was silence, aside from a few murmurs of assent, but nobody looked loony enough to argue with Neville just then. He turned and knelt next to Malfoy, wordlessly handing him a book and an essay that looked as though it had been ripped in half. Draco accepted them and put them in his bag, stammering something too low for Harry to hear.

"S'allright," Neville replied softly.

Hermione tugged on Harry's arm. "Come on," she said. Harry averted his gaze, not wanting the Slytherin to catch him of all people staring, and followed her.

V: Remember, remember the 5th of November. The gunpowder, treason, and plot. I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.

Interesting premise. But before I read the description, I was wondering what Lance was doing at Hogwarts, especially since the Ravenclaw in the upper right corner looks sort of like Toad.

For a moment I thought it was Lance, too. :D

I love how the people in the paintings seem to be reacting to what's going on, is that something that happens a lot in HP?
